Questions

Do I need to be unwell to use Existential Psychotherapy?

No.  Often we cannot easily define what is wrong and there can sometimes be few opportunities in life to speak with safety and absolute candour about difficult, embarassing or intimate matters without the risk of being labelled as one thing or another.  Existential Psychotherapy avoids such judgements and it is entirely your choice as to how you use therapy, whether that might be to address specific problems, diagnoses, seek clarity or explore areas of your life you find difficult to grasp or talk about.  Many people come to Existential Psychotherapy asking questions that they cannot find the answers to in everyday society; for example, 'Who am I?'; 'What's my purpose in life?', 'Why do I feel different from other people?'.  In other words, personal development and taking time for yourself to clarify things and to deepen your understanding of yourself are also integral aspects of this kind of therapy.
