Existential Retreat Project
I am currently seeking partners to join me in establishing an existential therapeutic retreat project. The project will involve a few like-minded people coming together to research, plan and form a small co-operative, ecologically-sound therapy project comprising individual newly-built houses of agreed design with separate residences for visitors. The retreat will be open to all visitors for brief and long-term therapeutic stays involving an affordable, individual daily program designed to meet their particular needs.
This project will embody the lifestyle aims of existential philosophy and psychotherapy and will provide individual retreatants - who are emotionally troubled, scattered or simply seeking a direction - a safe haven and therapeutic refuge as an alternative to conventional therapy, health services, psychiatric labelling, health spas or religious retreats. The retreat will allow such persons a place in which to explore and recover a sense of themselves and their individual purpose from a society in which our life meaning and direction can be so easily lost or eroded.
The project may be set up in the Scottish countryside, although at present I am quite open to ideas and suggestions in regard to location; purchasing land and building project homes for each interested partner.
You may be interested if:
You have some money that you are willing to pool with others - with minimised risk - to buy land and build your new house as an equal partner
and one or more of the following:
You want a lifestyle change and wish to live in a way that involves being true to yourself, your values and conscience without subscribing to religious or institutional dogma
You are a free thinker and no longer wish to work for a company, institution, manager or conventional 9-to-5 'work ethic' existence
You are attracted to the idea of living cooperatively whilst retaining your own autonomy, independence and individuality
You want to be equal partners in a therapeutic project run along the principles of goodwill, mutual support, community, equality, honesty, personal integrity and ecological responsibility
You want to live in a more natural environment and in a way that is more in-tune with who you are
You want to work less and live in a more vocational and egalitarian way
You wish to develop your existentially-oriented therapeutic practice in a unique and unorthodox way
You have unique skills that may contribute to the setting up and daily running of a therapeutic retreat e.g.:
psychotherapy or other therapeutic skills;
can teach yoga, meditation, tai chi etc
can teach art or use art therapy, or life skills;
building, organisational or other skills that may be relevant such as business, accountancy, architectural or project management skills.
You are less interested in making a profit and more interested in creating a meaningful quality of life for you, your family and individuals who come to the retreat
If you are interested and possess any of the above, contact Stephen at existentialtherapy@btinternet.com with your C.V./resume and expression of interest:
